A modern bat for the modern game.

After working at Salix for several years now and running the Salix outlet (Sapwood) I noticed a pattern of requests in custom orders, bigger bats thicker shoulders, thicker edges. But still the desire for the experience and pressing skills of Salix craftsmanship.

I posed the question to Andrew on how we can make a new bat that meets modern desires but not compromise on the pressing techniques that we have been mastering and improving for over 40 years. ACID is the result of answering this question.

With over 40 years of experience and over one hundred thousand individual hand made bats crafted, ACID is a bat that embodies the desire too push to the future of the modern style player but still embody the traditional and collective knowledge of Salix.

Additional options for every bat

  • Ready to play Pink and White Ball

    The ready to play service is additional mechanical pressing with our specialised roller which is a more effective way of knocking in a bat. This is a requirement to activate the warranty. We can specifically press with white and pink ball cricket in mind in order to get the best performance for the type of cricket you play. White and Pink pressing will be slightly firmer pressed, this will harden the bat more increasing durability.

    (Note - Selecting this dose not mean you cant use red balls, just that the pressing is designed to get the best performance from pink and white ball cricket)

  • Ready to play Red Ball

    The ready to play service is additional mechanical pressing with our specialised roller which is a more effective way of knocking in a bat. This is a requirement to activate the warranty. We can specifically press with red ball cricket in mind in order to get the best performance for the type of cricket you play. Red Ball pressing will be slightly softer pressed.

    (Note - Selecting this dose not mean you cant use pink and white balls, just that the pressing is designed to get the best performance from red ball cricket)

  • OVERSEAS DELIVERY INSURANCE

    This is so we can add insurance to any overseas delivery. This will protect all overseas customers of damages or lost packages, its not a requirement but it is more for piece of mind for any customer that wishes to purchase. UK customers are automatically insured for any UK mainland deliveries so there is no need to select this.

  • Discrete lead counter balance

    Lead tape applied at the top of the handle under the grip, this will add a small amount of weight but also increase pickup. The counterbalance will not be visible or effect your play due to being bulky like others on the market.

  • Double grip

    If you like your handles to be thicker than standard a double grip is the best way to achieve this. We cant leave the handles thicker on request as our handles are designed to flex, thickening the handle will take away this flex reducing durability at the shoulder line as well as a loss in performance. The perfect way to get a much thicker handle without the side effects is to double grip the bat.

  • Shoulder reduction

    All ACID bats are short blade long handle. We have designed the bat to be this way. You have the option to select 5mm 15mm or 25mm. If you would like to play with something closer to a traditional short handle then the 5mm option is best, 15mm allows for the best of both worlds, more wood taken from the shoulders allow for more wood in the driving area, 25mm is the maximum amount you can take from the shoulders allowing much more power in the driving area.
